Most of D's college applications have come back. He's still waiting on UW-Madision. Yes: Loyola, Marquette, Case, CUA. Waitlist: UofC. No: Georgetown, CarnegieMellon, Carleton, Stanford. Merit scholarships bring Marquette, Case and CUA to the same amount, within a couple thousand.
Of course, that assumes D doesn't blow it and nobody pulls the acceptance or support.
C and I don't want Loyola, even though they have a really good Physics program. It's just too close: to us and to some of his problems. I'm really ready for him to move out and to be more independent.
I prefer Marquette over CUA, at least for D.
Both schools are good, but I think Marquette is older, bigger and with more depth. I think it will be easier for D to get challenging courses in both Physics and Econ (if that's what he wants to do).
We haven't been to Case at all yet. I'm trying to set up a visit for April 16 or 19, depending on D's schedule. Hopefully he can stay overnight and visit some classes.
And then make up his mind.
