Focus on P

P's grades have never been good and lately it's gotten really bad.

In the "research so we have something to do" mode, C and I visited the Science and Arts Academy in Des Plaines yesterday. http://www.scienceandartsacademy.org/
I didn't know anything about it, other than one of our old neighbors had their kids there, and they liked it. It's a gifted school, with IQ testing and interviews required for admission. Based on the scores P got back in February, he would qualify.

It's pretty impressive. Of course, at $17K/kid, there's some funds to work with. The class sizes are small (16 max) with some very interesting science, language and drama opportunities. Right now, they go through 8th grade, but are planning on adding 9th grade next year.

P has a shadow day scheduled for Friday. We'll see how it goes and then decide.
